Scylla Liscombe in Gallery 2

What could be more beautiful than the natural world in its natural pose. I am truly moved by what exists around us in nature. To me – to render an embrace of nature’s splendor is a joy to share forever.
I spend a great deal of time outdoors in nature’s “world” connecting with, absorbing and feeling that which exists, lives intently and evolves naturally. All this, unpretentious and real, is the catalyst for my inspiration to paint! I have a compelling need to share this inspiration with others by relating my work through creativity, technique and medium, to bridge the space between our “everyday existence” and the pleasures of nature.

Scylla Liscombe is a poet, dancer, and artist. Her portfolios consist of: photo montages/collages/triptychs; tempera & marker abstracts on paper (also combined with cut-outs); miniature box-scapes; tempera, acrylic, and glitter on paper, canvas, and board; paper collage, and photography. Scylla is one of the few poets in the country working in the ancient, spontaneous, oral mode of composition to music. Scylla is also the founder of SOULMOVES and the SOULMOVES ENSEMBLE, which promote spontaneous movement and dance that expresses the mood of the moment using mask and costume.

Living in Florida, painting with strong colors seems to be a given. In studying past and present artists, I felt that the style I was most motivated to follow and develop was the impressionistic period and I hope my paintings speak to you.
